This is the town cemetery for Perry, Iowa. The town was established in 1869, but no date has yet been found for first burial in the cemetery

Records

Violet Hill's web site has contact information.

Unfortunately, records were not kept of early burials, though it is known that lots were sold in groups of five. As a result, unmarried children are often found buried next to their parents.

The town clerk's office has what records exist of sales of plots and of payments for annual upkeep. These records will sometimes contain other information, such as place of death and purchaser. The cemetery itself maintains a list of burials (call ahead if you need assistance). Neither of these lists is complete and they do not contain the same names. In addition, there are many unidentified burials which have no marker.

Web Listings

Interment.net has a list of 8,800+ burials which purports to come from the town clerk. It appears to be a list of markers as it contains the location and inscription from the markers.

Find a Grave has a relatively complete list of 8700+ marked graves with pictures of markers.

Iowa GenWeb has a brief listing based on submissions.

Iowa Gravestones photo project has few photos submitted by individuals.
