This Ordnance Survey map of 1900 from A Vision of Britain through Time locates all the original rural districts established in Wiltshire in 1894. In 1934 there were a number of mergers of neighbouring districts.

Tetbury Rural District was part of Gloucestershire but two of its parishes were located in the northwest corner of Wiltshire. In 1930 these parishes were transferred into Gloucestershire.
