Sproxton is a village and civil parish in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire, England. It is about 1 mile south of Helmsley and on the junction between the A170 road and the B1257 road on the edge of the North York Moors National Park.

Prior to the nationwide municipal reorganization of 1974, Sproxton was part of Helmsley Rural District. Historically, it was located in the ecclesiastical parish of Helmsley in the Rydale Wapentake.
