Spitall Hill
A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Spital Hill from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:
- "SPITTLE-HILL, a township in Mitford parish, Northumberland; 1¾ mile NW of Morpeth. Acres: 160. Population: 9. Houses: 2."
Spital Hill was a township in the ancient parish of Mitford. It became a separate civil parish in 1866. From 1894 until 1955 it was part of Morpeth Rural District. In 1955 the civil parish was abolished and the area was absorbed back into the parish of Mitford.
