A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of South Tidworth from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:

"TIDWORTH (South), a parish, with Hampshire-Cross hamlet, in Andover [registration] district, Hants; 1 mile SSE of North Tidworth. Post town, Tidworth, under Marlborough. Acres: 2,175. Rated property: £1,785. Population: 208. Houses: 48. The property is all in one estate. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Winchester. Value: £379. Patron: F. S. Stanley, Esq. The church is good."

Nearby, but across the county border in Wiltshire, is another parish named Tidworth. They are both residential areas of Tidworth Camp, a British army base. There is also a North Tidworth close by in Hampshire. Tidworth in Wiltshire has an article in Wikipedia.
