Scruton is a village and civil parish in the Hambleton district of North Yorkshire, England. It is west of Northallerton. According to the 2001 census the village had a population of 442, decreasing to 424 at the 2011 census. Prior to the nationwide municipal reorganization of 1974, Scruton was part of Bedale Rural District. Historically, it was an ecclesiastical parish the wapentake of Hang East. [edit] Research Tips
