The Saint Emma Plantation is in Ascension Parish, Louisiana, about 4 miles south of Donaldsonville, LA. The Greek revival plantation house was built in 1847. The plantation house is located on the right (west) bank of Bayou Lafourche (1283 South Highway 1). The plantation was owned by German immigrant Charles A Kock from 1854 to 1869. This plantation and the nearby Palo Alto plantation were the location of a battle during the Civil War, known as the Battle of Kock's Plantation.
