A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Pentir from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:

"PENTIR, a chapelry in Bangor parish, Carnarvon; 2¾ miles S S W of Bangor [railway] station. It has a post-office under Bangor. It was once a separate parish, and was incorporated with Bangor in 1656. Real property: £2,663. Population not separately returned. The living is annexed to the vicarage of Bangor."

Pentir is a community in the county of Gwynedd, Wales (formerly in the historic county of Caernarvonshire, and is 124.2 miles (199.9 km) from Cardiff and 204.7 miles (329.4 km) from London.
