Most of Ogmore Hundred (Ogwr, in Welsh) is on the coast of the Bristol Channel surrounding the Ogmore River, but the parishes of Llangeinor and Llandyfodwg are in a detached portion inland to the northwest.
A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Ogmore Hundred from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:
- "OGMORE HUNDRED comprises much of the basin of the Ogmore river, particularly of the E side; extends along the coast south-eastward to the vicinity of Lantwit-Major; and contains Ewenny parish and fourteen other parishes. Acres: 36,793. Population in 1851: 4,061; in 1861: 4,176. Houses: 850."
GENUKI provides a map from 'Historic Parishes of England and Wales - Boundaries before 1850' to which the boundaries of the hundreds have been superimposed. Dates are those for earliest parish registers. (Full source notes for the original map on the GENUKI page.)
