The Gazetteer for Scotland provides the following description for North Morar:

"An area of Highland Council Area, North Morar is the name given to the narrow mountainous coastal strip of Lochaber district that lies between Loch Morar to the south and Loch Nevis to the north. Its chief settlement is Mallaig."
