Mumbai City District (मुंबई जिल्हा) is a district of Maharashtra in Konkan Division. As a city district, it has no headquarters or subdivisions. It extends from Colaba in the south to Mahim and Sion in the north. Until the 1960s, the area was known as Mumbai. Today, Mumbai municipality includes both districts. The city's area covers 67.7 km². As per 2001 census. the district had 31 lakh population and as per 2011 census , 50 lakh population, And now approximate population can be guessed to be 55 lakh population..And 33 lakh bank accounts have been opened. All households must be having an account now considering that there are 15 lakh household, maximum. That is a good performance. Now that the Lead Bank Scheme has been extended to the district, there will be better inter institutional coordination in the district and this will secure better growth result, better inclusive growth, better financial inclusion etc.
