Monkswood (Welsh: Coed y Mynach) is a village in Monmouthshire, Wales. It is located two miles west of Usk on the A472 road to Pontypool. It lies parallel to the Berthon Brook, a minor trubutary of the River Usk.

Monkswood derives its name from the area of land farmed by monks from Usk in medieval times.

A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Monkswood from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:

"MONKSWOOD, a parish, formerly extra-parochial, in Pontypool [registration] district, Monmouth[shire]; near the river Usk, and near the Monmouth and Pontypool railway, 2½ miles NW of Usk [railway] station. Post town: Usk, under Newport, Monmouth[shire]. Acres: 1,030. Real property: £1,022. Population: 179. Houses: 37. The property is all in one estate. The living is a [perpetual] curacy in the diocese of Llandaff. Value: £80. Patron: the Duke of Beanfort. The church is good."

Prior to becoming an independent parish, Monkswood had been a chapelry in the northern part of the parish of Llanbaddock.
