Melbourn Rural District was located in Cambridgeshire, England, from 1894 to 1934.
It was formed in 1894 under the Local Government Act 1894, from that part of the Royston rural sanitary district which was in Cambridgeshire (the rest being part of Hertfordshire and in the Ashwell Rural District). Three parishes historically in Essex (Heydon, Great Chishill and Little Chishill) were initially placed in a separate Royston Rural District, which was dissolved the following year and the parishes joined with Melbourn RD in Cambridgeshire.
In 1934 under a County Review Order, the rural district was abolished, and its area merged with other districts to form the South Cambridgeshire Rural District.
