The Isle of Wight Rural District was situated in the southern part of the Isle of Wight from 1894 until 1974. There were some changes to the makeup of the rural district in 1933 caused, for the most part, by the merging of smaller parishes. In 1974 the rural district was abolished and the area became part of the South Wight District.
