Grange (Irish: An Ghráinseach) is a village in County Sligo, Republic of Ireland. Grange has some very lively pubs, with Barrys public house recognised as one of Sligo's best live venue with a wide variety of acts, renowned artists often stop by for an impromptu session, including Shane McGowan, Paul Brady and Tabby Callaghan. Morans and McLeans Pub are other popular family run pubs that is a very popular spot for a quiet pint and a chat with the locals. Grange has links with Bavaria in Germany, as it is the birthplace of Lola Montez (born Eliza Rosanna Gilbert). The village is also home to Steve Wickham ex Waterboys fiddler. Catherine Hyndman, who plays for Northern Ireland U19 Ladies and Colchester United Ladies also sets her roots in Grange. Grange is a bustling village with a tremendous community spirit. Annual events in Grange include the St. Patricks Day parade, the Agricultural Show and the very popular Grange Music Festival held every August bank holiday weekend. Because of this Grange's population is increasing, with new housing estates being built and planned. It is also well known for its great view of the mountain Ben Bulben. Grange is also close to Streedagh, the location of a fantastic beach, and one of the locations of a Spanish armada boat sinking, which is commemorated by a monument close to the beach. Lots of surfing and coastal activities are there for the visitor.
