The ancient parishes of Glandford and Bayfield merged to become the ancient and civil parish of Glandford with Bayfield at some date between the publication of John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1871-72 and White's History, Gazetteer, and Directory of Norfolk of 1883.

The parish was part of Erpingham Rural District from 1894 until 1935. It was then abolished to form the parish of Letheringsett with Glandford. Glandford with Bayfield comprised 1172 acres and had a population of 122 in the 1931 UK census.
