Ednam is a village in a parish of the same name in the former county of Roxburgh, Ednam is situated on the Eden Water, 3 miles (5 km) north of Kelso. It was the birthplace of the poet, James Thomson (1700-48), author of The Seasons, and the hymn-writer and clergyman, Henry Francis Lyte (1793 - 1847), author of Abide with Me.
