The Crediton Rural District was located on the east side of Devon, England and in the middle of its south to north axis. It was comprised of 29 civil parishes surrounding the Urban District of Crediton and was in existence from 1894 until 1974. It replaced the earlier Crediton Rural Sanitary District which catered for the area's needs during the latter part of the 19th century. In 1974 the area covered by the rural district became part of the current non-metropolitan Mid Devon District which also serves Crediton, Tiverton, and the former Tiverton Rural District.
