A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Crediton Hundred from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1871-72:

"CREDITON, a town, two tythings, a parish, a [registration] sub-district, a [registration] district, and a hundred in Devon....The hundred contains seven parishes. Acres: 37,216. Population: 11,233. Houses: 2,454."
