Clifton uon Ure (#7 on map) is a civil parish in the Hambleton District of North Yorkshire, England. The population of the parish was estimated at 40 in 2010. The population remained less than 100 as taken at the 2011 UK census and therefore details were included with those of the neighbouring civil parish of Thirn (#26).

The spelling, Clifton-on-Yore, used by Wikipedia reflects the Yorkshire dialect in the spelling of the River Ure on which the hamlet is situated. Hyphens are often omitted in placenames of this type.

Clifton upon Ure is the location of Clifton Castle, a 19th-century country house on the site of a 14th-century castle which belonged to the Scrope family, for which there is an article in Wikipedia. The ownership of the newer country house is traced in the article Clifton-on-Yore.

Prior to the nationwide municipal reorganization of 1974, Clifton uon Ure was part of Bedale Rural District. Historically, it was located in the ecclesiastical parish of Thornton Watlass in the wapentake of Hang East.
