Braunton Hundred was on the north coast of Devon and contained the town of Barnstaple. It is #4 on the map. South of Barnstaple the hundred was Fremington.
A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Braunton from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:
- "BRAUNTON, a village, a parish, a [registration] subdistrict, and a hundred in Devon. ....
- "The hundred contains twenty parishes. Acres: 71,452. Population: 14,786. Houses: 3,108.
GENUKI provides a further description from White's History, Gazetteer, and Directory of Devonshire of 1850.
