Aiskew (#2 on map) is now a civil parish and a village in the Hambleton District of North Yorkshire, England. The village is situated to the immediate northeast of the town of Bedale and separated from it by Bedale Beck.

According to the 2001 UK census, the population was 2,163 living in 863 dwellings. The 2011 UK census showed this had increased to 2,427 in 985 dwellings.

Prior to the nationwide municipal reorganization of 1974, Aiskew was part of Bedale Rural District. Historically, it was located in the ancient and ecclesiastical parish of Bedale in wapentake of Hang East.

The following description from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72 is provided by the website A Vision of Britain Through Time (University of Portsmouth Department of Geography).

"AISKEW, or Askew, a township in Bedale parish, [North Riding of] Yorkshire; ¾ mile ENE of Bedale. It contains Little Leeming hamlet, Baptist and Roman Catholic chapels, and an endowed school. Population: 759. Houses: 164."
