With the Local Government Act of 1894, the county of Monmouthshire was divided up into a number of county and municipal boroughs, urban districts and rural districts. Rural areas were considered to have less need for civil administration and were separated off from urban districts, even though they had previously been part of the same parish. As a result, Abergavenny Rural Parish was formed and the parish became part of the Abergavenny Rural District. Its location and extent is shown on this Ordnance Survey map from A Vision of Britain through Time. The map does not indicate any settlements within the parish boundaries.

In 1974 the parish became part of the new county of Gwent, and in 1996 of the County Borough of Monmouthshire unitary authority.
