* After presenting Hunter's alternate ancestry (and several subsequent generations: William and Isabel Pollington, their son William, and so on), the editor comments that he has long been in possession of a family bible printed in 1629, without stating the relevance of this fact. The implication is that he has knowledge not available to Hunter, but whether this is regarding the generations above or simply subsequent generations is not clear. If it relates to the above generations, the content in the family bible would have been added many generations after it occurred.

The ancestry presented in WeRelate follows the first variation above. It is clearly not indisputable, but is at least one possibility. Note that ThePeerage.com mentions a William Wentworth of Wentworth Woodhouse who died in 1308 (without mentioning his wife), so it appears that at least the existence of this person is still accepted.--DataAnalyst 17:34, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
