[add comment] [edit] [16 June 2017]See also William Shuart 1725–1771 at FamilyTree.org May have married a different Van Deusen.--Gunnj 06:47, 16 June 2017 (UTC) Can you tell me what original sources are given at Family Tree ? I can't seem to find William Shuart. I believe that the marriage of this Catrina Van Deusen to this William Shurte/Shuart is probably not reliable. If the couple married in 1750, Catrina would have been 13, very young. The earliest bride's age in this time period, and conducted in the Dutch Reformed Church that I've found, is age 16. In Kingston Dutch Church records, I found witnesses to a baptism as William Burhans & wife Catharina Van Deusen. I found their marriage record in 1749 "William Burhans, Justice to Catharina Cool, widow" This again is most likely another Catrina/Catharina Van Deusen in question, but not the one bp 1737. If you find cited sources for the William Shuart & Catrina, I suggest that you disconnect William Shurte from the current Catrina, and create a page for the correct wife, even without dates. This saves William Shurte/Shuart from having to be "deleted". We have to be very careful adding persons and information from Family Tree, Ancestry, WikiTree, etc. unless there is a source associated, and we are able to verify that the source confirms the intended pertinent facts. It's easy to adopt someone else's research, but if the original source backup isn't there, we need to do the research all over again, as if we had no answer, dates, relationships, etc. I truly appreciate your persistence and enthusiasm to find answers. This is a fascinating line; I admit I'm not extremely experienced with Dutch research, but I've managed to find more records than I have in past years. Please contact me if you have any questions. If you have any doubt about something you find, don't post it until 99% of the doubt subsides, and/or other viable sources are found. Also, you may want to consult instructional pages here, describing how to cite Census pages. You've done such great work with the census as backup, now I'll help you cite those pages. Just ask. I've cited some, but we actually have to create some (especially for 1790 to 1840) pages, so they legitimize all your hard work. Whew ! That's all for now - I feel like a wordy librarian again !
