I've been linking the Morris Court Record to Richard Morris and his heirs and believe I've found a problem in the Morris tree. Check out the list of Richard's children and who they married from the court case. I read that son William was married to a Jean _____ and the record on WR has him married to Margaret McClintic. The second court case at the bottom of the page gives Richard's wife's name as Jane. I've found a Morris website that has Jean Callison as William's wife and not Richard's - so this needs some more research. According to the WR age for Jean (1744) she couldn't be the mother of William b 1739; so she prob is his wife, not his mother. Morris is not a line I would normally research; but William's widow married Edward Jackson (according to the court case) so I took note of this. I haven't found a marriage record. --Janiejac 16:57, 7 November 2010 (EST) --- Janie, I believe William Morris, son of Richard did marry Margaret McClintic. In her father's will, she is refered to as "Margaret Morris". I believe their marriage record in Botetourt is clearly stated, too. (I was working on this family just a few weeks ago). I show the Jean Morris that married Edward Jackson was William's daughter Jean Morris. From the Court Cast: William has since died, leaving widow Jean and Children, viz: Jean (married to Edward Jackson and now living in Ohio)... The "Jean" listed was the daughter of William, not his wife Jean. Sometimes you have to read these court cases several times until they make sense. In addition, sometimes Chalkley made mistakes, paraphrased or left out some information, if compared to the actual records. I found the following familytreemaker site that also agrees with the information on WeRelate (has Jean Callison as Robert's wife), Jean Morris, daughter of William, marrying Edward Jackson. http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/p/e/t/Virginia-E-Pettett/GENE1-0002.html Take a look at this and let me know if you still see any discrepancies... Thanks and best regards, Jim:) |
