A Different Identification [23 May 2020]

George Frederick Tuttle, in the Tuttle genealogy), Appendix, p. 592, offers the following: "Timothy Tuttle. b. about 1752; m. in Salisbury, Conn., Hannah, dau. of Nathaniel and Hannah (Fitch) Winslow, b. Feb. 14, 1757; d. May 28, 1802, of Coventry, Conn. Hannah Fitch was dau. of Rev. Mr. Fitch of Coventry."

The age given on the gravestone at Williston, VT, is consistent with the Timothy Tuttle of Goshen, son of Timothy and Hannah. One does not and probably cannot know where Mr. Tuttle found the information given in the his two brief sketches, but it seems reasonably certain that the Timothy buried at Williston is the one born at Goshen.

Neither Hannah Fitch's father or Fitch grandfather was a clergyman. Her Fitch great-grandfather was Rev. James Fitch of Saybrook, Norwich and Lebanon whose second wife was a daughter of Major John Mason.
