Person talk:Thomas Rogers (24)

Where did Thomas Rogers get all these children? [27 May 2011]

According to Anderson, The Great Migration, VI:88-90, this Thomas Rogers was married once, to Grace (Ravens) Sherman, widow of John Sherman, and had one child, Elizabeth Rogers, who married one Daniel Smith. I don't have the energy to wade through those other 16 right now, but they need to be addressed at some point.--Jaques1724 00:49, 27 May 2011 (EDT)

TAG 10:59-60 (1933), Answers to queries includes this, which implies that the Thomas Rogers of Stratford-on-Avon remained and died in England:

(a) ROGERS. In the parish record society, vols. 6, 16 and 55, Stratford-on-Avon, Warwickshire, Eng., are found records on which may be based the following data.
Thomas Rogers, of Clardon, Alderman, buried 20 Feb 1610; m. 31 Jan 1562, Margaret Pace (Pave).
Thomas Rogers, Jr., 13th child of Thomas, bapt. 11 June 1587, buried 31 Aug. 1638; m. ____.
William Rogers, 2nd child of Thomas Jr., bapt. 7 Feb 1612, m 2 Feb 1630, Ann Hall, bapt 16 Fb 1612, illegitimate dau. of Grace Hall, bapt. 18 June 1583, 2nd dau. of robert Hall of Stratford-on-Avon. Children:
Anna, bapt 7 Mar 1631
Obadiah, bapt 29 Sept 1633
Jonathan, bapt 4 Sept 1636
No other children of this family were recorded there, nor their burials. The names and ages agree with those of William Rogers and wife Ann, who appear in American records shortly after this family disappear from English records. William and Ann of Huntington, L.I., had sons Obadiah and Jonathan born apparently before the family arrived in America, and other children born here. -- CNH.
