Person talk:Thomas Goodenow (1)

FYI - Donhead-St. Andrew and Donhead-St. Mary are 2 small villages situated side-by-side. Semley is also a small village located about 5 or 6 miles NW of the other two. Now and probably in Thomas Goodenow's time the parish of Semley encompassed Semley village with the other two in or bordering Semley parish. If you don't mind, I'll place Semley parish in the place description. --Neal Gardner 15:14, 10 June 2011 (EDT)

My primary resource for this sort of thing is the Genealogical Gazetteer of England. It doesn't even differentiate the two Donheads by name. Google maps was useful in this case for helping me get a better idea of the geography.--Jaques1724 15:36, 10 June 2011 (EDT)

Modern and Ancient parishes of Britain (with maps) is mine, although the two small villages were hard to distinguish as to whether encompassed in Semley parish or just as "touching", but definitely two separate villages.--Neal Gardner 16:57, 10 June 2011 (EDT)
