Suspect Birth Date [27 April 2012]

The birth date given here - 4 March 1591/92 - is the same as the baptismal date of a Thomas Gardiner, son of Rev. Michael and Margaret (Browne) Gardiner, of Great Greenford, Middlesex, England (now part of London). It is possible that they are the same person, but that would mean that Thomas Gardner (18) was not from Dorsetshire, as believed, and that his parents are not as identified. It seems more likely that someone has picked up the 4 Mar 1591/92 date from somewhere and thought it was the correct one for Thomas Gardner (18).

I am in the process of creating a separate record for Thomas Gardiner, son of Michael and Margaret (Browne) Gardiner, as my assumption is that they are separate people. Someone might want to review Thomas Gardner (18) and decide whether or not to keep his 4 Mar 1591/92 birth date. --DataAnalyst 21:53, 30 August 2010 (EDT)

It's better to include "Abt" so people know it is a guess, and to add an explanation basing the estimate on a known fact in his life, rather than keeping something just because it was part of what was there before. Just changing it and not putting an explanation or source to justify is merely asking that it be added back the way it was. If one person found the old date on the Internet, another will too, and undoubtedly think they've discovered something nobody else knows about. --Jrich 11:43, 27 April 2012 (EDT)
