Person talk:Susanna Potter (1)

My Susanna Potter is the daughter of Ichabod Potter and Martha Hazard, born 1671. I don't have a George Potter.

It is not clear what you are stating here. "Your" Susanna Potter was b. 1671 and you are writing on the talk page of a Susanna Potter who was b. 1619. Is is significant that you "don't have" a George Potter? Not if you are talking about your Susanna's father. A secondary reason why you wouldn't have George, even if you were talking about the right Susanna, is, to quote one website, "...Susanna Potter has three conflicting sets of claimed parents - George and Martha Potter, John and Martha Potter, or Robert and Isabel Potter." The WeRelate contributors that have created Susanna's page posted no sources, which doesn't help you realize why they have George and you don't. At the same time, your unsupported statement that you don't, doesn't help them decide if they are wrong, or allow them to present to you the sources you have overlooked that would justify their conclusion to you. --Jrich 18:21, 17 February 2011 (EST)

Is there any proof this Susanna married John Anthony? [1 June 2013]

I am trying to gather sources on the Anthony family, and the newest and best that I have found is the work Ancestral Lines. In that work, the author only comments that John's wife is said to be Susanna Potter, without commenting on it further. I was only able to find very old works that affirm such a connection. This leads me to ask two questions 1) Does this Susanna Potter exist outside of her supposed marriage to John? 2) is there any proof that she married John Anthony? (should she even exist) The best proof I have seen is also given near the end of the sketch of John Anthony in Ancestral Lines. Boyer writes: "Ray L. Olson has pointed out that Robert Potter once sold a house to his brother-in-law, John Anthony, and later Robert's son John confirmed that his father "sold land to my uncle, John Anthony". However, some state that Robert Potter married an Isabel Anthony, [supposed] sister of John Athony. Of course, it is also possible that brother and sister Anthony married brother and sister Potter."--Daniel Maxwell 13:28, 1 June 2013 (EDT)
