[add comment] [edit] Who is Sarah's husband [31 October 2009]Jillaine has pointed out that "Historic Homes and Institutions... by Ellery Bicknell Crane, Volume 4, p 19, says that she married William Hall." Source:Wheeler Families of Old Concord, Massachusetts (view here), under Thomas Wheeler #3001 says that a deed 17 Apr 1667 is signed by (among other children of Joseph Merriam) Thomas Wheeler and his wife Sarah. This suggests Thomas Wheeler did marry Sarah Merriam. This appears to be the same quitclaim deed mentioned on Joseph Merriam's page naming his sons. Unfortunately the full text is not given. Source:Merriam, Sidney Augustus. Ancestry of Franklin Merriam Peabody doesn't have it either, but says it is Suffolk Court File 2286. Joseph Merriam had a brother George Merriam who also had a daughter Sarah Merriam b. 1639. She is named Sarah Gove of Cambridge in George's will in 1675 (see Google Books). Source:Pope, Charles Henry. Merriam Genealogy in England and America, p. 38, says she was the one who m. 1658 William Hall. William Hall died in 1667 (Source:Concord, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States. Births, Marriages, and Deaths, 1635-1850, p. 13), and so the unidentified Mr. Gove would be her second husband. I can find no records of these marriages, however. --Jrich 19:42, 30 October 2009 (EDT) |
