Source:Mayflower Descendant, "Barnstable, Mass., Vital Records"

  • [p. 4:121] Samuel Chipman & Sarah Cob. Married 27 Dececem [sic] 1686.
  • [p. 6:99] Benjamin Hinkey & Sarah Cob Married 27 of Decem'r 1686.

Savage's Dictionary, p. 1:413, says "Sarah m. 27 Dec. 1686, Samuel Chipman, or Benjamin Hinkley, but wh. is uncert. for two Sarahs, cous. were contempo. and one liv. to 8 Jan. 1742."

Source:Mayflower Descendant, p. 31:34, "Abstracts of Barnstable County, Mass., Probate Records" shows that it was Benjamin Hinckley that signed the division of James Cobb's property, and so the Sarah Cobb that married Benjamin Hinckley was the daughter of James Cobb and Sarah Lewis. The Sarah Cobb who was the daughter of Henry Cobb and Sarah Hinckley, then, would be the one who married Samuel Chipman. --Jrich 18:49, 15 February 2009 (EST)
