Person talk:Sarah Carpenter (43)

Gayle, do you have something on Sarah Carpenter (43) indicating her birth is in 1860? Reason I ask is her tomb stone is 1959...not sure which date is correct. Thanks.

All I have is information from a descendant who didn't provide sources and whose information contained a lot of errors; and ages from census records - 21 in 1880 (June), 50 in 1910 (April), 60 in 1920 (January). Birth year of 1859 probably works better. This is what I was hoping would happen with WeRelate.--GayelKnott 12:37, 10 May 2010 (EDT)

Okay...I think I will update the DOB to 1959 based on the tomb stone as support.

Hi, Dean, Well, now that I've gone through all the census records, etc., and got them entered, it looks like maybe Sarah really was born in 1860, rather than 1859. She and her sister Mary Irene (who I gather is a twin?) aren't in the 1860 census. It's likely that as she got older she added a year to her age -- which was pretty common. Would you mind if I switched the death and alternate death dates?

Somewhat related, do you, by any chance, have a marriage record for her parents? It apparently hasn't been filmed by the Family History Library, but Marquette started keeping records in 1848, so they might have it. If her parents really were married in Dec 1859, then that would reinforce an 1860 birth date for Sarah.--GayelKnott 14:48, 20 August 2011 (EDT)

Gayle...fair enough enough on the change...very good point concerning the marriage of her parents. If they married in Dec 1859 than her Sarah's birth in 1860 makes sense. If I find anything else I will let you know (been working on ancestory.com for the last couple of days so who knows what I may run across).--Dean Toth 20 August 2011

Done. Good luck with your search--GayelKnott 14:23, 21 August 2011 (EDT)
