From Children Stone (1): More AFN chaff [8 February 2010]

This entry was copied from AFN PT44-KB obviously without any consideration to the fact that the birth was 4 years before their marriage (i.e., of Family:Daniel Stone and Mary Moore (1), that there is no such birth or death record in Sudbury VRs, that this child is not listed in various published genealogies.

Given the birth date of 1663, one is inclined to believe that this is intended to represent Obadiah Ward, a child of Mary's by her first marriage who was b. 1663, and was mistakenly placed in her second marriage. There is no evidence that such a Stone child existed, so the page should not exist, so it will be merged into Obadiah as a way to get rid of it. For a Stone child to have been born in 1663, it would undoubtedly be from an earlier marriage of Daniel Stone, and no evidence of such a marriage has been found.

The 1686 Will of William Ward, Sr. leaves a legacy to:

Item to Mary__ wife of Daniell Stone of Sudbury I Bequeath One shilling and unto Obediah and Lydia the children of said Mary... by my sonne Richard Ward Deceased I give five shillings a piece.

Did Obediah and Lydia take on the surname of their step-father?

Not sure why you ask? Will does not say their surname is Stone. This page says Obadiah's surname is Ward after their natural father Richard Ward, the first husband of Mary. --Jrich 16:28, 8 February 2010 (EST)
