[add comment] [edit] Norman Phelps Jr [27 July 2017]Hello: Thank you for your great review on Norman Phelps, Sr. There are a few things I'd like to offer. Norman Sr.'s pension transfer request does not mention the state he moved to from Hebron, CT. There is a Cambridge, Vermont and there was a Mooretown, Vermont. Mooretown's name changed to Bradford, Vermont about 1789. There is a birth record from the diary of Lydia (Peters) Baldwin, a midwife and cousin of Desire Cory Phelps, Norman Sr.'s mother. It reads: Phelps, Norman s.9 Nov 1787 (it does not give the son's name, nor the mother's). Using Norman Jr.'s death date and subtracting his age =Nov 1787. Regarding the duplicity of census information, last week I was reading an article that reviewed a long-time property battle between Queensbury Co., and Washington Co. which resulted in residents being counted twice in the census' and often taxed twice. It was only resolved in the 1900's. This dispute cut through the town of Fort Ann. I am searching for further proof of relationship between Norman Sr. and Norman Jr. to verify an application to DAR for a Prospective Member. I have submitted the land conveyances, but they do not prove relationship. Have you found an obituary or death record for either of them? Anything you might offer would be greatly appreciated.--Magnumrose 10:41, 27 July 2017 (UTC) |
