There is no record in Haverhill VRs of the death of either Joseph or Mary Whittier. Source:Kimball, Emma Adeline. Peaslees and Others of Haverhill and Vicinity, p. 19, gives 25 Dec 1739 as the death date of Joseph, but gives no death date for Mary. Find A Grave shows a stone that gives 1663-1739 for Joseph and 1676-[blank] for Mary. So I removed the death date of 25 Dec 1739 for Mary. Mary survived her husband, renounced executorship of his will, nominating their son Ebenezer. The probate file of Joseph Whittier (Essex Probate 29722) has a receipt signed by widow Mary Whittier 31 Oct 1741 showing she lived past this date. Accounting for the estate shows payments to a committee for setting off the widow's thirds in 1742. --Jrich 03:06, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
