Eakin DNA Results - Possible Match? [24 January 2015]

I am an Eakin/Akin descendant and recently had my DNA tested through Ancestry. This Mary Eakin married to William McGill came up multiple times in related trees. I had her no where in my trees or Eakin trees. In the same analysis it showed that I was related to the Akins clan out of Henrico VA. A James Akin came to Henrico Co in 1665 from Scotland. I was wondering if this Mary Eakin came from Scotland, not Northern Ireland? Or, she was of the same clan in Scotland as the Henrico clan that immigrated to NI and then to America?

I am a direct descendant of James Eakin/Athelia Bledsoe of Scott Co VA. James (B:1765) and his sister Margaret Eakin (B:1762) (Brashear) were born in Pennsylvania and migrated into the Holston River Settlement in 1785. I am currently researching the Eakin clan who settled in Paxtang TWP, Dauphin Co PA. There has been little or no research on this Eakin clan. If I am fortunate to make a connection to the Paxtang clan, I will post my findings.

Also, it would appear from my DNA results that I am NOT related to the Eakin clan of Augusta Co nor to the clan from Berkeley Co nor the clan from Bucks Co PA/Botetourt Co/Washington Co.

Please excuse this ramble. I'm new to DNA results and am learning my way forward. Just thought I would list what I'm finding.--EakinKin 23:00, 24 January 2015 (UTC)
