Person talk:Mary Dean (7)

Merging [15 May 2009]

It appears to me that you have merged at least, two different people here. I don't think Mary Dean or Dane is the same as Mary Deane dau of Walter and Eleanor Strong. I have studied this family and have yet to be sure of things, but I think Eleanor Deane married John Strong. He died in 1613 and his daughter, Eleanor was born posthumously. His widow married as he 2nd husband, William Cogan. They named another daughter Eleanor Cogan who is often confused with Eleanor Strong. William mentions both in his will. I descend from Mary's brother John.--Scot 11:30, 15 May 2009 (EDT)

I was focusing on Mary Dean/Deane and Shadrach Wilbore. NEHGR 113:101 says Mary Dean wife of Shadrach Wilbore died 27 Mar 1691 at Taunton and was his first wife. That is the extent of my research on Mary Dean. The parents and other spouses showed up after the merge. I have looked at the NEHGR artile "Eleanor Cogan, The Wife of Walter Deane of Taunton" 147:240+ as I suspect you have also. I defer to you if you want to make changes that reflect your research sources. --Susan Irish 14:32, 15 May 2009 (EDT)

I applied this page to one of the two Mary's being represented, i.e., Mary, d/o Thomas Dane of Concord, since the primary birthdate matched. (The alternate was 24 Feb 1637/38 which looks like a corruption of the primary birthdate, though, as noted below, I did not research the other Mary, and it may be valid for her?) This means I removed it from Family:Walter Deane and Eleanor Strong (1) (parents) and Family:Henry Andrew and Mary Dean (1) (spouse). That is a different Mary Dean and I do not have information on her. --Jrich 14:38, 14 May 2016 (UTC)
