Person talk:Mary Burnham (1)

death date [2 July 2015]

Regarding death of Mary, widow of John Clark, in 1723: Source:Burnham, Roderick Henry. Burnham Family, p. 309, give no details for Mary after her birth. The marriage record says Mary Burnam m. 1672 John Clark. The Ipswich VRs give them children in 1673, 1674, 1676, 1679, plus the death of John 7 Feb 1721-2 and the death of John's wid, Mary 1723. The question is, is this death for Mary Burnam, or, as some sources seem to think, the widow Mary Lord who m. 1702 John Clark, also per Ipswich VRs? Source:Torrey, Clarence Almon. New England Marriages Prior to 1700, says the widow Mary Lord was the Mary Browne who m. 1686 Thomas Lord in 1686. She was granted administration on Thomas Lord's estate in Nov 1694, and in 1699 posted bond as guardian of their five children. This suggests it was Mary (Browne) (Lord) Clark who d. 1723, and Mary Burnam died sometime before 1702. However, there are at least two John Clarks of Ipswich, the other b. 1666, and since this couple apparently had a son John in 1703, it is not at all clear which John Clark this is. --Jrich 03:29, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
