Person talk:Martha Chapman (10)

Parentage [11 August 2012]

Jaques,

Martha Chapman isnt in my line, but Ive run into her through her supposed 'mother'. Mary Heath, daughter of William Heath, married Captain John Johnson. She doesnt seem to have been married to another man, nor was there another daughter named Mary. So Im not sure where this 'parentage' is bad. I dont know this Chapman family.--Daniel Maxwell 12:26, 11 August 2012 (EDT)

Col. Charles Henry Banks found in the Winthrop Papers that Martha Chapman was born in Digswell, Herts. Unsourced info on the web says she was baptized there 7 April 1616. It appears the Digswell parish registers have been published, so anyone wishing to could order the applicable film from Salt Lake City. Mary Heath was certainly not the mother of a Chapman born in 1616 since she married John Johnson in 1613 and was buried at Ware in 1629.--jaques1724 20:42, 20 August 2012 (EDT)
