The Strong Family Association also records that John's parents were LT. RETURN STRONG JR., s/o Return Strong, and ELIZABETH BURRITT of Hartford, CT., dau. of Lt. Stephen Burritt and Sarah Nichols which conflicts with the data presented here.

I assume there's a missing comma in that statement, and that the discrepancy pointed out is that her name is Elizabeth Burritt not Burrel? It's Burrel in the online Windsor records transcription, but I suppose that could easily be "Burret", which would be a normal type of misspelling for the time. --Amelia 13:28, 12 November 2008 (EST)
Yeah, I cut too much and lost a comma in the process. Most GEDCOMs that I see on Rootsweb are using the Burritt spelling apparently going with the Association's version, however the Association also gives a death date several months later than the town records, so I'm not sure what's going on there. --Ronni 21:15, 12 November 2008 (EST)

Conflicting source material

Previous versions of this page showed that John Warham Strong was the son of John Strong and Hannah Trumbull. That information came from Holcombe, James H. Descendants of the Founders of Ancient Windsor Through Five Generations who in turn cited Benjamin Woodbridge Dwight's The history of the descendants of Elder John Strong, of Northampton, Mass, (c)1871, page 20. Ancestry.com's copy of Dwight's work records John as the s/o John Strong and Hannah Trumbull, but a hand-written note immediately below the paragraph says "For correction see The American Genealogist, v. 12, p 76."
