Person talk:John Phinney (3)

I've just entered a Christening Date for John Phinney (without having found a Source on the Web Page) which conflicts with the estimated Birth Date. Anyone have proof of either ? Neal

Hi, I've just discovered that the Birth Date you have is actually a baptism date for John PHINNEY and also that the surname PHINNEY was used in records relating to John (I don't believe the FINNEY spelling happened until a few generations later). Please let me know what you would like to do. One website where I found correcting info www.tracycrocker.com/p45.htm She cites NEHGR, Vol CXLVII, Oct 1994; Phinney Genealogy pa. 3, NE Marriages Prior to ? by Torrey, Clarence A. pa. 579 Also take a look at

www.phinneysplace.com/genealogy/p23.htm and other pages all Phinney related.

Hi,

I'm the one who has entered a lot of the Phinney info, but some existed before I began my branches of "Phinneys" which were mostly designated as "Finney". Carefully I have begun to change appropriate generations to "Ph", letting those around mid-1700s stay as "F". Any cited information is welcome, but maybe mine is not the last word. I do like to fill in an entire family if possible for "completeness", I say "go for it". --Neal Gardner 12:56, 31 August 2009 (EDT)
