Birth location [23 September 2010]

I am going to change the birth location to the alternate location in Topsfield. There is no reason to keep the location in England. Originally the page said Salisbury, Essex, England. In hindsight, this was probably intended to be Salisbury, Essex, Massachusetts, but it said England and was red. The only Salisbury that seemed to come up in England was in Wiltshire so it was changed to this to remove the red location. So, it was probably an error to start with, made worse by an attempt to fix it without doing any research. The sources on the Internet make it pretty clear that John's birth could not be England: Thomas Perkins (John's father) came over in 1631 at age of 16, and Zaccheus Gould was in Topsfield by 1638, so Thomas and Phebe must have married in New England since they married about 1640, so John's birth must have been in New England, not olde England. Many sources say Zaccheus Gould gave Thomas Perkins a deed of gift soon after he married Phebe. Too bad the ones I've seen don't give the date of the deed, as there is no record of the marriage, and the date of the deed would probably place a boundary that would help narrow the date down. --Jrich 22:59, 23 September 2010 (EDT)
