Middle names [2 September 2013]

Other than being shown in Source:Doherty, Frank J. Settlers of the Beekman Patent, Dutchess County, New York, p. 7:396, with no basis or explanation, I can find no significant source giving John's middle name as Dobson. No document is cited using that name. Middle names were uncommon for people born in the early 1700's, and the use of "Dobson" would seem to reflect the marriage of his son William to Mary Dobson, and so it use here is probably confusion with some latter descendant of that branch of the family. --Jrich 15:19, 2 September 2013 (EDT)
