Person talk:John Grosvenor (1)

feeding hills [15 March 2015]

According to Virkus, John Grosvenor removed to "Feeding Hills (now Auburn, Mass.)", which is Worcester county, not Hampden county, and according to maps.google.com, Auburn is about 54 miles distant from Feeding Hills of Hampden County. I am not sure Virkus is right about it being "now Auburn", but it seems to be one of the few sources that mention his migration to this area.

According to Virkus, John Grosvenor removed there, not died there. There seems to be no evidence of his death on the Internet, and except for one familytreemaker.com unsourced tree (showing death 9 Sep 1775, probably a corruption/misinterpretation of his 2nd marriage on 9 Sep 1765), nobody seems to have a date, meaning they don't know when and where he died. Seeing that he presumably lived to 1774 (last child) and a war is going a year later, there is certainly much room for uncertainty. Therefore, this item should be a residence fact as opposed to a death, but residences really need dates, since it was only for a one period in his life, and that means a source would be useful to show what event or document it is that informs us that he lived there on that date. That might clear up the location as well. --Jrich 15:26, 15 March 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up. I added the alleged residences late last night, so I could search today. His memorial page (no proof of where he's buried) & those of children, give marriage places of some of his children, that need verifying. Possible proof of residence if marriage records can be found. --SkippyG 19:30, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
