Person talk:Jemima Cutler (2)

Source for birth date? [5 May 2017]

Source:Anderson, Robert Charles. Great Migration: Immigrants to New England, 1634-1635 obviously disagrees with the birth date shown of 22 Sep 1666 in Watertown, probably based on birth of child in 1716 when the 1666 date would suggest she was 50. So Mr. Anderson guesses she was born later than this. One can probably say that, since he did not give a precise date, a record of her birth has probably not been found. So where did the precise date given come from?

The location in Watertown seems unlikely. The two previous children, Samuel and John, were recorded in Cambridge, so it appears the family had left Watertown by the time of Jemima's birth. Her father called himself "James Cutler of Cambridge" 14 May 1667. Her birth is not recorded in Watertown records, nor Cambridge or Lexington (where Samuel and John are recorded), nor Woburn (where she married). Nor is a birth date or location given in the Cutler Memorial and Genealogical History.

An explicit source citation would greatly help the credibility of the birth date given on this page. --Jrich 09:33, 21 January 2010 (EST)
