Person talk:Isaac Allerton (2)

Sources [16 May 2008]

The text on this page apppears to contain page numbers, but no source is cited. Was it on the Isaac(5) page that was redirected? Who submitted it? I am certain GMG, MF5G, Savage, etc. contain much on him, but none are cited.--Scot 17:46, 16 May 2008 (EDT)

That's kind of a confusing comment, because all those notes came from pages you uploaded (Isaac Allerton 9 and Isaac Allerton 11) that were merged and redirected to this page. There were no notes or sources on Isaac(5), which was redirected to (2) in order to most easily preserve the family links (a merging issue that has since been fixed).--Amelia 22:08, 16 May 2008 (EDT)

This is a bit embarrassing.I must have collected this off the internet some time back and copied it for future reference. I quit researching this line when I learned the Mayflower Society no longer accepts Frances and Margaret (or Grace) Newton as his granddaughters. Poking around, I believe the notes come from "A history of the Allerton family in the United States, 1585 to 1885 : and a genealogy of the descendants of Isaac Allerton", by W.S. Allerton, now available on Google books [[1]] The reason they deny the granddaughters is that they are not mentioned in Isaac's will. Reading it, though, he was a bit sloppy in naming his heirs, naming neither the daughter who married a Newton, nor Mr. Newton's first name. He mentions only their son, Allerton Newton, so I would not necessarily rule out the existence of Newton daughters, especially if they were both married to the prosperous Wyatt neighbors.--Scot 15:35, 18 May 2008 (EDT)
