Person talk:Ira Churchill (2)

Civil War [30 July 2011]

Is this the Ira Churchill who served in the 43rd Ohio Infantry? -- Amy (Ajcrow) 09:23, 30 July 2011 (EDT)

Yes, although I have no details or proof that it was the 43rd. I'll search today if you like. Ira and 3 ? brothers are all noted as serving in the Civil War.--Neal Gardner 09:43, 30 July 2011 (EDT)

The Organizational Index of Civil War Pensions on Footnote shows Ira L. Churchill as being in Company B, 43rd Ohio, enlisted 14 Sep 1861, captured 22 July 1864 in Atlanta, Ga. Mother applied for pension 6 July 1888. (Application 395968. No certificate number, which is an indication that her application wasn't approved.) -- Amy (Ajcrow) 09:53, 30 July 2011 (EDT)

Since his mother, Polly (Root) Churchill died 1873, don't think we have a match. I'll do some more digging. Thanks !--Neal Gardner 12:13, 30 July 2011 (EDT)
