Problems with Ancestry.com Tree citations [3 September 2015]

Hi, Jaynes,

There seem to be a number of problems with Hannah -- first of all, you have used two links to Ancestry.com Trees. However, those links do not work. If you want to reference an Ancestry.com Tree, you need to provide the name of the tree and, most importantly, the name of the person who created the tree. (Ancestry does not index tree names, only the names of people who created trees, so that the only way to actually find the information being cited is to search for the Member Directory, then go to that member's tree.) Adding the date you accessed the tree is also important, as people do change the information they post on their trees.

Second, there seems to be some conflicting information about Hannah's mother that needs to be resolved. The 1850 US Census shows Elizabeth as the (presumed) wife of Elijah Land, and Hannah as 17 years of age. That would give her a birth date of about 1833. If Elijah's first wife died about 1846, then Hannah would be the daughter of his Elijah's first wife, and the problem of duplicate parents can be resolved; Hannah as the daughter of Elizabeth can be removed.

Could you sort this out, please? Thanks, --GayelKnott 20:07, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
